The Mommy Makeover
Pregnancy can take its toll on a woman’s body, and if she has more than one pregnancy, these effects can be multiplied. The mommy makeover consists of having three procedures done that seem to be the most troublesome for moms after childbirth. The three procedures are: a breast lift that may or may not include breast implants, liposuction, and a tummy tuck.
These three areas seem to be the most affected by the rigors of pregnancy and the ones women typically go to plastic surgeons to fix the most often. The procedures also deals with one of the biggest complaints moms have, and that is the loose skin they have after having a baby and gaining and then losing weight.
The combination surgeries are definitely becoming more popular as moms everywhere want to boost their self esteem by having their pre-baby bodies back. For others, it doesn’t seem to be an issue. There are things that many surgeons want the mommy makeover candidates to do before they are considered for the mommy makeover surgeries.
Try to be Be at your Goal Weight.
This is important because the purpose of the surgery is to enhance the body, not take the work out of getting back into shape. The mommy makeover procedures are not a short cut to getting into shape, so if a woman has gotten back down to her pre-pregnancy weight, and that weight is healthy and right for her frame, it shows that she is not unwilling to put the work in to achieve her goals.
Try to Eat Healthy.
This is an obvious one that surprisingly is rarely followed. People tend to skip meals, eat poorly, eat too much and try starvation diets to lose weight. The best way to eat is healthy, with protein, vegetables and fruits and limiting the amount of carbs you consume and making sure those carbs are healthy ones. Don’t skip meals, it only makes losing or maintaining your weight that much harder.
No smoking and avoiding alcohol beyond 2-3 drinks per week. Alcohol and smoking are both very bad for the body, for the skin and for your health. Keep alcohol to a minimum, and eliminating smoking are important for your health and you’ll feel better too.
Exercise at least 30 minutes a day and include resistance training as well. Cardio is important for your heart, resistance training is important for muscle tone, so be sure to include both. Exercising 30 minutes a day might seem like a lot, but you’d be surprised how easy it is to slip that into your daily routine when the baby is napping. If you have other children, exercise early in the morning or even later at night after they’re in bed. Although first thing in the morning is proven to be best, if you can only do it at 10 o clock at night, it’s better to do it then, than not at all.
Make preperations for Post Procedure.
Last but most importantly, is anyone who wants to have the mommy makeover done needs to have help set up for at least two weeks after surgery. You will have had three invasive surgical procedures done and you can’t just go home and resume normal activities. Having help to come in and clean, take care of the kids and cook for you is a MUST. You can do some pretty harmful damage to yourself by not getting the proper rest and healing time your body will need. Your surgeon will let you know what your particular healing time needs to be.
